Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble at the 2009 Spring Concert
This is Atlee's premier concert ensemble consisting of mainly upperclass advanced instrumental students. Atlee's Wind Ensemble is considered one of the top performing groups in Central Virginia. Entrance is by audition and incoming 9th grade students are encouraged to audition.
The Wind Ensemble performs grade V-VI music on a regular basis and the course is offered with a weighted component. Students taking Wind Ensemble for weighted credit must complete extra projects and take private lessons on their instrument.
This group performs at all concerts and at the District I Festival in March. At the 2009 VBODA Concert Festival, this group received a rating of Superior.
Advanced performance techniques and pedagogy will be discussed with an emphasis on music theory and performance. Students participating in Wind Ensemble are expected to audition for All-District Band and perform in outside groups such as the Greather Richmond Youth Wind Ensemble and the Richmond Youth Symphonic Orchestra, to name a few.

Students in this group should maintain a practice regimen of 90 minutes per week.
