Upon graduation from VT, Mr. Mawyer became the band director at Fieldale-Collinsville High School in Henry County. While there, his bands received superior ratings in both marching and concert settings. Organization affiliations up to this point in his career include Kappa Kappa Psi, MENC, VBODA, NEA and others.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and being a member of The Remnants, a classic rock and soul band that performs throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
